Les Petites Formes is a programme showing short length videos which
derive from or take part in the artists’ researches. This format, not
compatible with large-scale exhibitions, often lead artists to integrate
them into installations or encourage « spectacular » features.
Having no specific broadcasting possibilities, these short videos were usually
seen by the artists as side productions, research or footnotes. With no exposure
and no status, these films were nevertheless constantly produced and piled
up.
While offering to collect these videos,
Les Petites Formes will invite each artist to take another look at his/her past work and change position. This program will highlight the relationship between the artist’s intention and the becoming of a work while questionning the impact of the viewer’s gaze on a piece.
